Personal trainer in Amsterdam

A stronger body is only truly valuable when you can put it to use. Move freely. Produce force when needed. React quickly and recover afterwards. That is why personal training with me is not about ticking off as many exercises as possible or simply wearing you out. My goal is to make you stronger, so you can keep doing what you love for as long as possible.

I am Milo, a European-certified personal trainer in Amsterdam Oud-West. I train at the Overtoom, a few minutes from the Vondelpark, De Baarsjes and Westerpark, and I coach in English and in Dutch. A good part of the people I work with are internationals who moved to Amsterdam for work and want to keep training seriously here. I combine strength and conditioning with movement analysis, technique development and a programme built around your body and your sporting goals.

What others say

I’ve always enjoyed sports, but the barrier to entry for strength training always felt high for me. Coach Milo helped me discover the joy in both strength and conditioning training. Now, I don’t just train with him, but also independently at the gym. Highly recommended!

WHAT OTHERS SAY

Thanks to Milo, I can play tennis for hours again without any pain. With his eye for detail, he quickly identified the movement patterns that were causing my back and hip issues. His program combines strength, conditioning, and tennis-specific exercises. I move better and feel stronger on the court.

What makes personal training personal?

We do not start with an exercise; we start with you. What do you want to be able to do? What are you already training for? How does your body move right now, and what does the rest of your week demand of you?

Through a conversation and a movement analysis, we map out where you currently stand and where the greatest opportunities lie. In doing so, I also look at how you learn best. Some people need a lot of explanation, while others prefer to feel a movement first.

Some details need to be sharpened immediately; others simply require time and repetition. Good coaching is knowing what to focus on and when. Based on that starting point, I create a program. Every exercise has a purpose, and every training phase builds on the last. We track your progress, make adjustments when necessary, and keep things simple whenever simple works.

Sport-specific strength and conditioning

Sport-specific training is about building the physical qualities that help you perform better.

We analyze the physical demands of your sport: accelerating, decelerating, changing direction, absorbing force, or maintaining efficient movement. We then train the specific underlying qualities required for those actions.

For a tennis player, the focus might be on rotation and rapid changes of direction; for a kitesurfer, on grip and core control; and for a Hyrox athlete, on maintaining power under fatigue.

Your sport, level, and goals determine the program. Having played football and tennis at a competitive level, played American football in the United States, and still being an avid kitesurfer, I know how rewarding it feels to improve. I ensure your training directly contributes to that progress.

Looking to improve your movement, handle pressure, and optimize recovery? The Milo Mentorship integrates personal training, ACT coaching, and breathwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is your personal training only for experienced athletes?

No. I train athletes and dedicated sports enthusiasts, but also people who want to get stronger or rebuild structure in their lives. We start at your level. You don't need to be fit to begin; you just need to be willing to work in a focused and consistent manner.

How does a program start?

We will discuss your goals, sports and training background, schedule, and any areas of focus. After that, we perform a movement analysis and determine the initial training approach. You won't get a rigid six-month plan, but rather a clear starting point that we will continue to refine based on your progress.

Can I also train for a specific sport?

Yes. We analyze the physical demands of your sport and translate them into strength, conditioning, explosiveness, coordination, and resilience. The gym supports your sport; it does not replace the technical training of your sport itself.

Do I train 1-on-1, or is duo training also an option?

Yes, both are possible. Choose 1-on-1 for maximum personal attention, or train together with a friend, partner, or teammate.

During a duo session, the training is tailored to each person's starting level. This allows you to work on your own goals or a shared goal, if you prefer.

Do I need prior experience with strength training?

No. We start with technique and building a foundation, regardless of your starting point. If you already have years of experience, the focus shifts to sport-specific loading or periodization rather than the basics.

How much does personal training with Coach Milo cost?

A 1-on-1 session costs between €85 and €105.

Duo training costs €140 to €160 per session for two people. That works out to €70 to €80 per person.

The exact rate depends on how often you train.
